The Laboratory Point of Care Coordinator is responsible for the overall operation of Point of Care testing on the patient floors and the lab for the hospital system. This position requires an individual who is highly skilled in clinical area as it relates to Laboratory results and accreditation. This individual helps maintain excellent rapport among Laboratory, Physicians, Nursing Staff and other Hospital Departments. This individual works closely with the Laboratory Director to maintain policy, procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES include:
Planning, organizing and performing training and operation of Point of Care equipment (POC), policies and procedures, quality control/assurance, and implementation/adoption.
Maintaining all aspects of the Point of Care equipment to include QC/QA reports and troubleshooting of all hardware and software issues.
Keep abreast of the Hospital Information System and/or the Laboratory Information System and understands the relationships among the two systems and how it interacts with the Point of Care reporting.
Provide assistance and training to laboratory and hospital personnel in the use of Point of Care equipment.
Coordinate with Talent department for monthly training sessions for POC.
Oversee Proficiency training of all staff as required by the College of American Pathology.
Create an effective working relationship with all levels in the organization. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:
Associate Degree
State of Florida MLT or MT license
ASCP MT or equivalent; LIS Training and/or experience.
